Authors read works by various American and international authors to highlight the danger surveillance poses to creative freedom. The programs of PEN International and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to fight surveillance were publicized.

PEN International and the ACLU sponsored the program, “Something to Hide: Writers and Artists Against the Surveillance State.” This program of the Miami Book Fair International was held in the Chapman Center of Miami-Dade College.
