A panel discussion was held on Jeff Benedict’s book, Little Pink House: A True Story of Defiance and Courage (Grand Central Publishing; January 26, 2009). The book is about Susette Kelo’s eminent domain battle to keep her house in Connecticut. She lost her appeal of Kelo v. City of New London to U.S. Supreme Court, which inspired the change of eminent domain laws of 42 states. Ms. Kelo and Scott Bullock, who argued the losing eminent domain case before the Supreme Court, also spoke. The panelists responded to audience members' questions following their remarks. Roger Pilon moderated.
Jeff Benedict is a contributing writer for Sports Illustrated, the Los Angeles Times, and the Hartford Courant. He’s author of seven books, including Pros and Cons: The Criminals Who Play in the NFL and Out of Bounds: Inside the NBA’s Culture of Rape, Violence and Crime. Mr. Benedict teaches advanced writing and a class on politics and the law at Southern Virginia University. He holds a J.D., an M.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in History. Mr. Benedict previously practiced law in Connecticut. close
