Lilly Ledbetter had sued Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for employment discrimination after learning that she was paid less than male co-workers with less experience. In Ledbetter v. Goodyear the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against her because the statute of limitations had run out. The new act changed the statute of limitations.
