Witnesses at a hearing on the oversight of the federal financial rescue program testified about operations of the Treasury Department and administrations of the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP). Among the issues they addressed were over payments for assets purchased under the Bush administration, the terms of the asset purchases, and the financial risk to taxpayer investments. A congressional oversight report had indicated that the Bush administration received assets that were worth $78 billion less than the amount it invested. close
