David Ogden testified about his nomination to be the deputy attorney general at the Justice Department. He spoke about his experience and qualifications and said that his first priority would be protecting national security, but that he recognized the need to emphasize traditional law enforcement functions, including corporate fraud and civil rights. He also addressed hiring practices in the previous administration and promised to prevent political considerations in the operation of the department. Additionally he answered questions from conservative lawmakers about his positions on abortion, sexually explicit images and other social issues. close
