Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke testified about the efforts of the Federal Reserve Board to provide liquidity in response to the financial crisis and the scope of its powers. In his remarks and answers to members' questions he spoke about economic risks associated with government inaction in financial markets, requested more authority to intervene when large banks were threatened, and called for more strict regulation and enforcement of disclosure policies for financial institutions. close
