In the book he profiles America’s early portrait artists Charles Wilson Peale, Gilbert Stuart, John Trumbull, and Benjamin West. He recounts the artists' relationships with George Washington and explores the creation of iconic imagery of the first American president. He responded to audience members' questions. Following his remarks he was interviewed by Ellen Miles.
