In separate interviews, guests gave their perspectives on how potential changes to patent law could affect the technology industry. Legislation introduced by Senators Leahy and Hatch, if passed, would regulate the size of patent damages that are awarded by courts. Ms. Maghame argued that the new legislation greatly restricts how developers of technology are compensated if they win patent suits. Mr. Black believes the new approach would be fair.
