Representative and Financial Services Subcommittee ranking member Scott Garrett

talked about the hearing on federal aid (more than $150 billion) to AIG (American International Group), the bonuses AIG gave its executives, and what the federal government should do about AIG. He responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.

Representative Garrett views the AIG bonuses as contractual obligations but believes the U.S. should have never given federal aid to AIG. He also thinks aid should not have been given to Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or other institutions. close
