The House Energy and Environment Subcommittee held a hearing on climate change legislation. The panels testified about the economic implications of climate change legislation, specifically cap and trade policies. Cap and trade policies involve a set level of a pollutant that an industry can emit, which industries can meet through better technology or the purchase of credits. The viability of “green jobs” was also discussed.

The legislation the committee was considering was the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, H.R. 2454. close
