A panel discussion was held with some biographers of public figures. Topics included the methodology of biography, why to write another book on a subject, the sources they used, what kind of power their subjects desired, and their leadership. Biographer A. Scott Berg moderated.

Ronald White is the author of A. Lincoln: A Biography (Random House; January 13, 2009). In the book he recounts the life of Abraham Lincoln and added to the former president’s biography via his research of the recently completed Lincoln Legal Papers. Jim Newton is the author of, Justice for All: Earl Warren and the Nation He Made, {Riverhead; October 5, 2006), a biography of Earl Warren, the chief justice of the United States from 1953 to 1969. H.W. Brands is the author of Traitor to His Class: The Privileged Life and Radical Presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt (Traitor to His Class: The Privileged Life and Radical Presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt (Doubleday; November 4, 2008), a comprehensive one-volume biography of the thirty-second president.
