The producer, Sawyer Bowman, a 10th-grade student at Woodlawn School in Davidson, North Carolina, was interviewed by remote video from Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Bowman was shown a taped message from President Obama congratulating him on his winning entry.
Dr. John Niederhuber of the National Cancer Institute participated from the C-SPAN studio for an in-depth look at the issue of cancer, as well as current funding and research.
Nancy Brinker, who founded the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation after the death of her sister, talked about her work as an activist for cancer and the progress on funding and research since the 1980s.
