Dr. Keiji Fukuda of the World Health Organization spoke to reporters and provided an update on the H1N1 swine flu outbreak. In his remarks he said that the virus had not lead to community-level transmission outside of North America, and that the outbreak in Mexico seemed to be subsiding. He also answered questions from reporters about the outbreak and stressed that high alert levels meant only that transmission had been observed and said nothing about the virulence of the new virus. close
