Paul McGeough, former editor and current chief correspondent for The Sydney Morning Herald, has reported for the last eight years from the U.S., Iraq, Afghanistan, and other trouble spots. Among other awards he has twice been named “Australian Journalist of the Year.” He is the author of Manhattan to Baghdad: Despatches from the Frontline in the War on Terror and In Baghdad: A Reporter’s War.

Paul McGeough talked about his book Kill Khalid: The Failed Mossad Assassination of Khalid Mishal and the Rise of Hamas (New Press (March 10, 2009). He talked about the failed poisoning of Khalid Mishal by the Israelis in 1997 and Mishal’s subsequent rise to the top leadership position in Hamas. Topics included the future of Hamas and the best methods for the world to deal with the organization. Mr. McGeough responded to questions submitted by members of the audience.
