Quinn Bradlee talked about the difficulties of being both mentally and physically disabled while growing up among the Washington elite. Mr. Bradlee is the son of former Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee and author Sally Quinn. Mr. Bradlee was born with a hole in his heart, experiencing heart failure that culminated in open heart surgery at the age of 3 months. He had numerous physical and learning disabilities growing up as a result of having Velocardiofacial Syndrome. He talked about the difficulties of being disabled as a child and of adjusting to life. He talked about his website and about writing his book, A Different Life: Growing Up Learning Disabled and Other Adventures, published by PublicAffairs. Sally Quinn provided her own perspective and interviewed her son. They both responded to questions from the audience at the 7 p.m. event at the Cascades Branch Library in Potomac Falls, Virginia. close
