Stan Greenberg talked about his book Dispatches from the War Room: In the Trenches with Five Extraordinary Leaders (Thomas Dunne Books; February 17, 2009). In his memoir, he recounts his work with President Bill Clinton, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Bolivian president Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada, and South African president Nelson Mandela. Topics of discussion included the practices of polling, focus groups, how leaders use polling data, and running campaigns. They also discussed bipartisan relations. The guest interviewer was Mary Matalin.
Stanley B. Greenberg is chairman and chief executive officer of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner. In addition to those covered in his memoir, he has served as a polling advisor to national campaigns for German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Al Gore, Chris Dodd, and Joe Lieberman. Mr. Greenberg is the author several books, including The Two Americas; Middle Class Dreams; and The New Majority.
Mary Matalin has been a media strategist and political adviser to both President George H.W. Bush and President George W. Bush, as well as Vice President Dick Cheney. She has written for numerous publications, including the Los Angeles Times and Newsweek, and has been part of television shows, including being a former host of the political television show “Crossfire.” She is the author of Letters to My Daughters and also the co-author with her husband James Carville of All’s Fair. She now now runs Threshold, a conservative publishing imprint at Simon and Schuster. close
