As part of a project sponsored by C-SPAN to encourage dialog between students and national figures, Michael Steele talked to students at Woodson Senior High School in Washington, D.C., about careers in politics. He answered questions from the students.

Michael Steele is chairman of the Republican National Committee. He previously served as head of the Republican grassroots organization GOPAC and as lieutenant governor of Maryland, the first African American elected to statewide office in that state.

Mr. Steele was born and raised in Washington, DC. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University and earned a law degree from Georgetown University. close
