At a day-long event titled, "Can We Put Poor Men to Work?", Lawrence Mead spoke about strategies to introduce and build employment programs aimed at poor men. He spoke about the process by which various experimental programs may be implemented on broader and more permanent scales, involving courts and government agencies at all levels to remove barriers to employment, and addressing family and social issues in the process. close
