Authors talked about their books on the history of homosexual rights. They each read passages from their book. Then moderator Brian Bouldrey asked questions before taking questions from members of the audience.

Karen Graves is the author of And They Were Wonderful Teachers: Florida’s Purge of Gay and Lesbian Teachers (University of Illinois Press; June 3, 2009). The book focuses on Florida’s purge of gay and lesbian teachers from 1956 to 1965, exploring how the Florida Legislative Investigation Committee, commonly known as the Johns Committee, investigated and discharged dozens of teachers on the basis of sexuality.

C. Todd White is the author of Pre-Gay L.A.: A Social History of the Movement for Homosexual Rights (University of Illinois Press; April 16, 2009). The book explores the origins and history of the modern American movement for homosexual rights in Los Angeles in the late 1940s.
