President Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke to reporters and answered questions about relations between the U.S. and Europe, as well as the Middle East peace process. Chancellor Merkel praised the president’s speech in Cairo, saying his words the previous day were an “ideal basis” to pursue peace efforts. They also said said they would work closely on trying to persuade Iran to abandon any nuclear program that could be used to build an atomic bomb. close
