U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg reviewed the Supreme Court cases decided during the 2008-2009 term, with an emphasis on Second Circuit cases. She noted highlights of the year, including a visit by President-Elect Obama and Vice-President-Elect Biden to the Court, the resignation of Justice Souder, and the nomination of Judge Sonai Sotomayor to replace him. Justice Ginsburg oversees the Second Circuit Court of Appeals on which Judge Sonia Sotomayor serves. She said that she was sad to see Justice Souter retire, but endorsed Judge Sotomayor as “well-equipped to handle the challenges our work load presents.”
