President Obama delivered remarks on health care legislation. He urged members of Congress to put aside “the politics of the moment instead of putting the interests of the American people first” to pass reform legislation. He stated that keeping the status quo is “unacceptable” and that reform is “closer than ever before,” noting that pharmaceutical companies, health care providers, hospitals, and the American Nursing and American Medical Associations have agreed on ways to reduce costs, and that legislation is making its way through House and Senate committees.

President Obama prefaced his remarks by praising the Senate for voting against additional funds for F-22 fighter jets.  close
