The presenters talked about the status of unmanned, robotic missions to Mars. Dr. Brent Bos talked about the Phoenix mission. Topics included the history of Mars landers, the current Phoenix mission, and the equipment that NASA was using.

Dr. Paul Mahaffy talked about the search for organic materials, the science of astro-biomarkers, and the unmanned mission planned for after Phoenix called Curiosity. He also talked about misconceptions of astrobiology.

Both presenters answered questions from the audience.

This was part of a “Mars Science Panel” plenary session of the Twelfth Annual International Mars Society Convention was held at 9:00 a.m. at the University of Maryland, College Park. close
