Rex Nutting talked about unemployment and the economy and responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. The previous day the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the July 2009 unemployment rate dropped slightly to 9.4%, the first decline in 15 months. The economy lost 247,000 jobs in July 2009, the smallest number since August 2008. Mr. Nutting talked about its significance, especially as it relates to the overall strength of the economy.
