Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor was sworn in as the 111th justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Chief Justice John Roberts administered the Judicial Oath in the East Conference Room at the Supreme Court of the United States before a small gathering of her family and friends. This was the first time television cameras were allowed. She had first taken the constitutional oath, which is required of all federal officers, in a private ceremony in the justices' conference room. close
