A funeral was held for Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of John F. Kennedy. Speakers included her daughter Maria Shriver, her grandchildren, and Special Olympics Athlete and longtime friend Loretta Claiborne. Eunice Shriver founded the Special Olympics in 1968.

Also in attendance were Vice President Joe Biden, Oprah Winfrey, and singer Stevie Wonder. Mrs. Shriver’s brother Senator Edward Kennedy did not attend the service held at the Saint Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

The on-line presentation begins just as the service was underway and does not include the procession with the Special Olympics Torch being carried into the church by Special Olympians and law enforcement officers, followed by the hearse with Mrs. Shriver’s casket, and the family walking behind it.  close
