Christopher Caldwell talked about his book Reflections on the Revolution in Europe: Immigration, Islam, and the West (Doubleday; July 28, 2009). The book looks at the immigrant experience in Europe, specifically immigration from non-European countries. Mr. Caldwell explains that there are 1.7 million new arrivals in Europe each year, half of whom are followers of Islam. In his book, he says, “Europe’s future peace and prosperity depend on how easily these newcomers (and their children and grandchildren) assimilate into European life.”
