Erik Olson talked about food safety issues, as cases of E. coli continue to spread, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. In July 2009 the House approved legislation, the Food Safety Enhancement Act, which would give the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) greater control over recalls, put greater responsibility on the producers of food, and require more frequent inspections.
