Witnesses testified about preventing weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) attacks. The hearing focused on the Weapons of Mass Destruction Prevention and Preparedness Act, S. 1649, which was introduced by Senators Joe Lieberman and Susan Collins. The legislation was drafted in response to the recommendations of the World At Risk report of the Commission on the Prevention of WMD Proliferation and Terrorism chaired by Senators Bob Graham and Jim Talent. close
