The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee held a hearing on the impact of the economic crisis on retirement benefit plans and what Congress can do to help employees with them. The first panel contained witnesses who talked about their personal stories on pension security and the Public Benefit Guarantee Corporation’s (PBGC) decision over retirement benefits for active and retired Delphi employees. The second panel discussed how Congress could provide temporarily relief to employees and repeal or change the current pension law enacted in 2006. close
