The Commission on Wartime Contracting met with Defense Department and Army officials to examine the role of contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan. The hearing examined the adequacy of supervision over contractor employees during the drawdown of U.S. troops in Iraq, and coordination of Defense Department agencies that manage and audit contracts.

The panel focused on the effectiveness and the differences between the Defense Department’s deployed contractor database known as SPOT -- Synchronized Predeployment and Operation Tracker versus a manual census count of contractor suppliers compiled by the Army’s Central Command. close
