Andro Linklater talked about his book An Artist in Treason: The Extraordinary Double Life of General James Wilkinson (Walker & Company; September 29, 2009). In his book he recounts the life of James Wilkinson (1757-1825) the youngest general in the Continental Army. As an aide to Bendict Arnold, he revealed his superior’s secret allegiance but would later assume a similar life in espionage. Becoming known as Agent 13 for the Spanish Secret Service, he intended to keep the United States from expanding past the Mississippi River. He was involved in many schemes, all the while receiving support from four American presidents. Mr. Linklater responded to questions from members of the audience. close
