Joy Hakim, a former teacher and associate editor and editorial writer at Norfolk’s Virginian-Pilot, is the author of the 10-volume A History of Us for children ages nine and older and the 3-volume The Story of Science. She is also the author of Freedom: A History of Us, which was made into an eight-part PBS series of the same name. close
