Former Senator George McGovern was interviewed about his life and caree, focusing on his service in Work War II. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he volunteered for the Army Air Corp at the age of 19. He was a decorated bomber pilot with 35 combat missions.

During 22 years in the U.S. Congress he was instrumental in creating programs to alleviate hunger, including Food for Peace, the school lunch program, and food stamps. From 1998 to 2001, he served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, based in Rome. He was appointed United Nations Ambassador on World Hunger in 2001. He was the 1972 Democratic presidential nominee and an unsuccessful candidate for the nomination in 1968 and 1984.

The National World War II Museum in New Orleans conducted oral histories to record the experiences of World War II veterans. The location of the interview is not known. close
