President Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed the new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty in Prague. The treaty commits the U.S. and Russia to reduce the number of strategic nuclear warheads by one-third and decrease the number of missiles, bombers, and submarines carrying them by more than one-half. Following the signing, the two leaders took questions from reporters. President Obama in his comments said, “It sends a signal around the world that the United States and Russia are prepared to once again take leadership.” close
