Ahmed Rashidtalked about his book Taliban: Militant Islam, Oil and Fundamentalism in Central Asia. An updated tenth anniversary edition had just been released by Yale University Press. Mr. Rashid had been covering violence in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan since 1979. He currently writes for BBC Online, the Washington Post, El Mundo, the International Herald Tribune, among others. Previously he spent 20 years as a correspondent for the Far Eastern Economic Review. His previous book was Descent into Chaos: The United States and the Failure of Nation Building. close
