Foreign Minister William Hague reported on the Afghanistan Conference in Kabul. Mr. Hague talked about withdrawing British troops by 2015, the quality and strength of the Afghan National Army, and efforts to eradicate corruption within the political system. David Miliband, who spoke on behalf of the opposition Labour Party, accused the government of sending mixed messages on the timetable for withdrawal. The Afghanistan conference focused on speeding up the handover of security to Afghan forces, as well as the Afghan economy. close
