Richard Trumka talked about the U.S. economy and jobs, their impact on campaign 2010, and the labor movement’s role in 2010 elections. The latest Labor Department statistics showed that the U.S. unemployment rate stayed at 9.5 percent in July and fewer jobs were created than were expected. Labor has been more selective with its endorsements and campaign contributions this cycle, working against some candidates who have not actively supported its legislative priorities.
