Michael Kaiser talked about managing the arts and his latest book Leading Roles: 50 Questions Every Arts Board Should Ask (Brandeis, 2010). As president of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts he is responsible for all of the programming at the center. Earlier in the year, Mr. Kaiser created the Kennedy Center Arts Management Institute, which trains people to become managers in the arts field. He had also just completed a 69-city tour in connection with the Arts in Crisis initiative where he spoke with local arts communities on how to handle the impact of reduced funding due to the recession.

Michael Kaiser has been president of the Kennedy Center since 2001. Previously he worked with the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater Foundation, American Ballet Theatre, Kansas City Ballet, and the Royal Opera House in London. close
