Major Joe McGrady of the 102nd Fighter Wing flew into combat with no weapons meaning that in order to stop a targeted hijacked airliner he would have to crash into it. Chuck Savall, pilot of Midwest Express Flight 73, flew low on fuel to four states before landing without clearance. Major Dan Caine, of the District of Columbia Air National Guard, was the flying supervisor for the 121st Fighter Squadron at Andrews AFB and was called upon to take off in a spare jet without weapons to help protect Washington, D.C. Gerald Earwood, the pilot of Midwest Express Flight 7, had to quickly maneuver his plane to avoid being hit by United Flight 175, which then crashed into the World Trade Center South Tower. The moderator was Lynn Spencer, author of [Touching History: The Untold Story of the Drama That Unfolded in the Skies
