New Hampshire 1st Congressional District candidates Congresswoman Carol Shea Porter (D) and Frank Guinta (R) debated various issues, including taxes, the role of government, and health care. Laura Noy moderated. Congresswoman Shea Porter argued against Mr. Guinta’s philosophy of less governmental regulation, saying, “I’m astounded by this anti-government, no role for government talk. We the people are the government.” Mr. Guinta criticized the congresswoman for voting in favor of the economic stimulus and health care legislation.  close
