Former Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad spoke about terrorism and efforts to combat terrorist groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan. In his remarks he said he wanted the U.S. to remain the pre-eminent power in the world, because he says in recent history multi-polarity led to two world wars and bi-polarity led to the Cold War. He and two members of the previous panel responded to questions from the audience on future options for Afghanistan.
