Professor Catherine Allgor lectured to her history class on the lives of women in the early republic. While the history of the period usually focuses on the actions of men and battlefields, the lives of women were portrayed as centered strictly on the home, and any political influence women had was achieved through their husbands. Professor Allgor focused on the lives of women and how they exercised a small but increasing amount of political and economic freedom. She also displayed a cartoon for discussion. close
