Susan Herbst, a public policy professor at Georgia Tech, argues that American political debate has become unwieldy and simply rude. The author presents her thoughts on how to reintroduce civil debate into American politics, which includes the use of new media and developing a thicker "political skin"and examines the ways Sarah Palin and Barack Obama dealt with the issues of incivility during the 2008 presidential campaign and the 2009 health care debates. Susan Herbst discussed her book at the Georgia Tech Bookstore in Atlanta. close
