British Prime Minister David Cameron announced several spending cuts as part of the government’s British defense and security strategy, but reassured members that there would be no cuts for the mission in Afghanistan. Other cuts include a loss of 42,000 military and civilian jobs over the next five years and a 40 percent cut of the British army’s artillery and tanks. The defense and security strategy review outlines the future of the British military and assesses security threats and risks. The last defense review was released in 1998. close
