Matthew Parris spoke about British politics as well as his experiences as a columnist for the Times of London and writer for the Spectator magazine. While in his 20s, he was parliamentary secretary for Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From 1979 to 1986 he was a Conservative Party member of the House of Commons. He left that position to become host of ITV’s Sunday current affairs program “Weekend World,” which ran until 1988. He has written many books on politics and on travel. He currently hosts a radio program on BBC 4. close
