In light of the use of social media in troubled areas of the world such as Tunisia and Egypt, Philip Verveer talked about the State Department’s role in freedom of expression matters worldwide. Edward Felten discussed his role as the first ever Chief Technologist and his role in advising the Federal Trade Commission on privacy matters. 

Both interviews took place at the “State of the Net” Conference sponsored by the Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee.  close
