The top regulator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac said that several House Republican bills to reform government sponsored enterprises (GSEs) were “unnecessary and counterproductive". Edward DeMarco said "precipitous action” by Congress to end Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac within the next six months could “cost the taxpayers significantly” and damage the housing financial market.  close
