In their book Crossing Zero The Afpak War at the Turning Point of American Empire (City Lights), Elizabeth Gould and Paul Fitzgerald take a critical look at U.S. policy towards Afghanistan and Pakistan and discuss the fight for control of the border region between the Pashtuns and the Panjabis. The contentious border separating Pakistan from Afghanistan is known as the Durand line but referred to by the military and intelligence community as “Zero line.” They responded to questions from members of the audience.
