Patrick Donahoe talked about the financial status and future of the U.S. postal service. Topics included loss of revenue and customers, Saturday mail delivery, its governance, and the process of flagging an office for possible closure. He responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Among his comments Mr. Donahue said that 13 percent of the postal service’s expenses derive from the congressional requirement that the organization pre-pay retiree health benefits.
